Founder
Justin Martell, a native of Norwich, Connecticut, discovered his passion for filmmaking at age 12 when his father gifted him VHS copies of classic films. Martell began making backyard films and soon started shooting promo videos for a local haunted hayride, earning comparisons to a "young George Romero" from the local press. While attending college in New Hampshire, Martell produced narrative, documentary, and news content, leveraging the state's political prominence for high-profile interviews. After graduating, he moved to New York City and joined Troma Entertainment, where he gained industry experience that ultimately led to the founding of Not the Funeral Home.
In addition to his work in film and TV, Martell is a manager at Young Pioneer Tours, an adventure travel company specializing in destinations "your mother wishes you stayed away from." Martell also authored the 2016 biography "Eternal Troubadour: The Improbable Life of Tiny Tim," which was later adapted into the 2020 documentary "Tiny Tim: King for a Day," narrated by Weird Al Yankovic.
